Anti-money laundering and business information, with artificial intelligence
Knowing the customer is an obligation. Doing it well is our job.
Business information on companies and individuals, beneficial owners and groups reconstructed abroad too, customer due diligence and consulting. The platform queries the official sources, artificial intelligence reads the whole file and writes to you what matters and why. For banks, intermediaries, professionals, and for anyone the law obliges to know who they are dealing with.
What we do
Three ways of helping you, and they can be used together.
01
Business information
The file on companies and individuals, in Italy and in 44 other countries: financial statements, shareholding structure, beneficial owners, protesti, sanctions and a risk assessment that artificial intelligence writes in full, with the reasons.
The file →02
Anti-money laundering
Beneficial owners and groups reconstructed worldwide, KYC and customer due diligence. Artificial intelligence explains the money laundering risk and tries to anticipate it, and every check the law requires stays documented.
The services →03
Consulting
Procedures, second-line controls, risk self-assessment, reporting and audit, with consultants who work on anti-money laundering every day.
Consulting →Who it is for
For all obliged entities.
Anti-money laundering regulation (D.Lgs. 231/2007, article 3) obliges five categories to know their customers. We work with all of them.
01
Banks and financial intermediaries
Banks, payment and electronic money institutions, SIMs and SGRs (investment firms and asset managers), intermediaries on the article 106 register, life insurers, trust companies (fiduciarie), financial advisers.
02
Other financial operators
Trust companies (fiduciarie) outside the register, credit brokers, financial agents, currency exchangers.
03
Professionals
Accountants, labour law consultants, notaries, lawyers, statutory auditors.
04
Other non-financial operators
Estate agents, gold traders, art and antiques dealers, custody of valuables, debt recovery.
05
Gambling operators
Online and land-based gambling under licence, casinos.
06
Those who grant credit
It is not a legal obligation, but the same information is needed to decide on a credit limit or a payment extension.

How we work
Every statement has a source. Ours too.
- In the document, each item of data carries its source and the date to which it refers.
- The risk assessment comes from written rules and says why; if the sources are not enough, it writes “not computable”.
- Artificial intelligence works on the whole file: it writes the risk assessment, reads the signing powers that the Register records in free text, comments on the forecasts drawn from the financial statements. It can make an assessment more severe, never more lenient, and the decision stays with you. Inside the platform there is BIAI, the assistant that answers on your archive, searches the Register and, with your mandate and after your confirmation, buys on your behalf. There is a map of the links among your customers, and portfolio analysis flags subjects on the same street. Where artificial intelligence works →

Ci chiedono spesso se i dati sono in tempo reale. La risposta onesta è che in questo mestiere il tempo reale non ce l'ha nessuno: il bilancio è l'ultimo depositato, e un protesto arriva nei registri settimane dopo.

Frequently asked questions
The questions we are asked most often.
What is Complify?
Complify is the trademark of Esquad S.r.l. for anti-money laundering and business information: the file on companies and individuals in Italy and in 44 other countries, beneficial ownership and groups reconstructed worldwide, KYC, customer due diligence and consulting. For those whom anti-money laundering regulation obliges to know their customers, and for those who grant credit.
Who is Complify for?
For all the obliged entities under D.Lgs. 231/2007: banks and financial intermediaries, other financial operators, professionals, other non-financial operators and gambling operators. And for companies that grant credit to their customers.
Where does the data come from?
From official and public sources: the Business Register, filed financial statements, the land registry, the registers of protesti and of pregiudizievoli (prejudicial acts), international sanctions lists. In the document, each item of data carries its source and the date to which it refers.
Where is the data kept, and who sees it?
The platform and the data are hosted in the European Union, and personal data are processed in accordance with the GDPR. Those who work on your data are bound by contract to professional secrecy, the breach of which is punished by article 622 of the Italian Criminal Code. A customer's requests are not seen by any other customer.
Do I need a subscription?
No. No annual fee, no volume commitment, no tacit renewal to cancel: you pay for what you use. On the platform the price is shown before you buy, and if the credit is not enough the page says so before you click.
What does a file contain?
Identification data, financial statements and ratios with the reclassified accounts, forecasts, credit score, shareholding structure, officers with signing powers and beneficial owners, group tree with indirect shares, protesti and pregiudizievoli also on shareholders and officers, anti-money laundering screening, real estate, local units, connections with the database, ESG assessment and the credit risk and anti-money laundering risk assessment with its reasoning.
How do you know who can sign for the company?
Next to each officer the file states whether they have the power to sign for the company and in what manner: sole, separate or joint. This is decided from the title of the position recorded in the Business Register and from the law; where those are not enough, from the text of the recorded powers. Three colours: green if power and manner are both verified, yellow if the power exists but the manner does not, red if it cannot be verified. The same outcome appears among the positions held by an individual.
What are the connections in the database?
Each file records the subjects it contains: company, shareholders, directors, beneficial owners, group companies, positions and shareholdings of individuals. When you open a new one, next to each name you can see in how many other files it appears and whether it carries adverse findings there, and a section lists the companies and people connected through a subject in common, saying through whom. The files of other companies never say who requested them.
Is the risk assessment automatic?
It comes from written, declared rules, and a summary generated with artificial intelligence explains it in your organisation's language. The summary can make the assessment more severe, never more lenient; if the sources are not enough, the document writes “not computable” and says what is missing.
Where do you use artificial intelligence?
Reads the whole file and writes the credit risk and anti-money laundering risk assessment, with the reasons in your organisation's language. Reads the signing powers that the Register records in free text. Writes the commentary on the forecasts drawn from the financial statements, whose figures remain calculated. The rules remain written and declared: artificial intelligence can make an assessment more severe, never more lenient, and the decision stays with you. In ComplifyADV it analyses customer due diligence files, recognises the patterns of positions with high money laundering risk and flags in advance those heading the same way. In beneficial ownership it helps analysts summarise the chain they have reconstructed. Coming soon: its reading of what the web says about the company and its directors.
Can BIAI buy a report on my behalf?
Only if you have chosen it. BIAI is the platform's assistant: it answers on your archive, also searches by address, opens reports already bought and searches the Register for subjects not yet there. It can also buy catalogue products on your behalf, but only if the function is activated for your team at your company's request and if you give it a mandate from the panel, with a daily spending threshold; the mandate can be revoked at any time. Before each purchase it shows you what it is about to buy, and it buys only when you confirm. The team's daily limits and the available credit apply, and everything is recorded.
What are geographical coincidences?
A section of portfolio analysis that lists the subjects in the archive that share the same street in the same municipality, ignoring the street number: registered offices, local units, associated companies and residences of individuals, when the reports bought include them. It helps to recognise domiciliation arrangements, shell companies and networks of businesses in the same building. Municipalities that are namesakes in different provinces remain distinct, and ceased offices do not count.
Do you check foreign companies too?
Yes, in 44 countries besides Italy, with the same document and the same archive: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States. Screening on sanctions, PEPs and adverse media covers the whole world.
Do you reconstruct beneficial ownership abroad too?
Yes. We reconstruct the ownership chain of Italian and foreign companies down to the natural persons who own or control them, at three levels of depth with the analysts' notes on the path followed. The analysts reconstruct the chain; artificial intelligence helps them summarise it.
Do you offer anti-money laundering consulting?
Yes: policies and procedures, second-line controls and an outsourced anti-money laundering function, risk self-assessment, support with customer due diligence and reporting, review and audit, support to Senior Management.
Does the document change over time?
No. Assessment, connections and dates are fixed to the day of the data, and the document says so: the one on which you based your decision can be read again as it was. To keep a customer up to date there is monitoring, which re-reads the information at the frequency you choose.
How does the trial work?
From the contacts page choose “A trial”: we send you the credentials, you upload up to ten VAT numbers from your portfolio and find them sorted by risk. Free, no credit card and no contract. And nobody will phone you.
